A fine for a kiss

Just stumbled upon a news item that’s in tune with the censorship post. The New Delhi municipality has increased the fine for kissing in public by 10 times to Rs 500.

The fine for kissing in public in Delhi has increased tenfold, so couples caught flouting the law face a fine of 500 rupees (£6.21).

Officials in the Indian capital determined that the previous tariff of 50 rupees, established in 1936, was not deterring amorous couples. Sindhushree Khullar, the chairwoman of the municipal council, said: “Couples found in a compromising position cause embarrassment. We want to monitor the activities of such couples.” Times Onlne (via)
