Some dialogue snippets (among many that I found interesting):
A humorous discussion Che and his friend Alberto had with a Nun at a leper colony they were visiting:
Ernesto Guevara: Mother.
Mother Sister Alberto: Yes?
Alberto Granado: We want to eat.
Ernesto Guevara: We deserve to eat like everyone else.
Mother Sister Alberto: Yes, but you didn’t [...]

Imagine going to a movie rental store(like Hollywood or Blockbuster), undecided on the movie to pick; ultimately picking up a random movie based on its cover, only to discover that it’s a cheaply made B-grade movie.
This is where Netflix beats any movie rental library hands down.
The Netflix service has improved a lot over the years. [...]

The Tiger and the Snow: Another chance to witness Roberto Benigni’s magic! If you liked Life is Beautiful, you wouldn’t wanna miss this.
Synopsis:
Soon after the start of hostilities in Iraq, Rome-based lovestruck poet and lecturer Attilio heads to Baghdad when he learns from his friend, Iraqi poet Fuad, that the woman he loves, Vittoria, [...]

The wait is over! Saw the movie today.
As usual, no spoilers, just some highlights.
To begin with, the movie explores unexpected areas. For example the depiction of the dilemma faced by Pakistani soldiers post 9/11 was convincing(I hope).
It equally bashes the Talibs and the US, with some Pakistan bashing here and there (though I have a [...]

Suraj Jain informs me about Gandhigiri.org. The website is a one stop shop for everything about Gandhigiri.
It has a Gandhigiri forum, where people post their problems and seek Gandhigiri solutions to the same. It’s got latest news about Gandhigiri incidents in mainstream society. Also has a Gandhigiri blog too!
Rajkumar Hirani would be the proudest man [...]

We Rahman fans wait for his album’s release just like an impoverished farmer waits for the monsoons. This monsoon marked the release of his new Tamil album Jillunu Oru Kadhal (JOK). Don’t ask me what the name means. I don’t understand Tamil, though I would love to learn it sometime.
I can’t explain why, but [...]

Taking a cautious approach, the government has decided not to give clearance to the screening of the controversial film, the Da Vinci Code, till the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Catholic Church are satisfied the film will not hurt the sensitivity of Christians in the country. Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters [...]

Bizarre! But refreshing. Hard to believe that the movie was made by a debutante. The power of the movie lies in its plot. So it would be wise not to talk much about it. Given such a powerful cast, that includes Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Bomi Irani and Saif Ali Khan, it’s normal to have [...]

Kabul Express is one of the three big budget movies to be released by yashrajfilms in 2006. The tagline says “Two Indians, an American, one Afghan and a Pakistani on a journey together”. Seems interesting
The film is being directed by Kabir Khan (Mini Mathur’s husband) who has been making documentary films before he ventured in [...]

I was kind of hesitant to write about Rang De Basanti, not only because there are thousands of blogs already doing that, but also because I’ve seen the movie just once.
Yes, I liked RDB. Not for the story, but for the way the story was told. Not for the characters, but the interplay of the [...]

Rang De Basanti’s trailers are finally out! The plot seems interesting; and Rakesh Mehra’s credentials make me believe that this movie won’t be as disappointing as Mangal Pandey. The soundtrack is by A. R. Rahman, which makes me even more desperate for the audio launch than the movie itself.

There’s some buzz about movie director Priyadarshan’s plan to make an epic period film of the scale of Kala Pani. The weirdest part of the idea was that it’s supposed to be based on Chau dancers of Orissa and Bihar — how they took on the Britishers through their dance form.
Firstly, the reason why [...]
